Back in December ’04, my lease was about to expire on my Expedition and I decided just in case I couldn’t get another new car I’d better start looking for a daily driver.  Since my boss had just gotten a great deal on a truck through ebay I thought I’d try my luck.  After bidding on a bunch of cars, all exceeding what I wanted to pay, Christmas eve came and the price was right on an ’87 Chevy Camaro Z28.  It looked clean in the pictures and the mileage was low, and the color was magnificent.  The picture that got me though – a rear end shot that featured the Flowmaster dual exhaust.  Did I forget to mention I’ve been a Ford girl all my life – I had never even been a passenger in a Chevy before.

I drove to Pennsylvania to pick her up and she was a different color than the photos displayed (they were a very deep red), her actual color was Flame Red, a rusty brownish red and while the color disappointed me, I loaded her up on the trailer and brought her home anyway for the low, low price of $2,650.  My first drive of this car turned me into Ford Girl Gone Bad!  I immediately got back on ebay and started bidding on replacement parts of every kind – 4th Gen seats, new water tanks, any part or piece on the car that needed replacing you could find me bidding on.  Just as she was in all her original glory, I loved her immediately.

Then she got kidnapped for nearly four months by my smitten boyfriend (smitten with me, not the car).  He said that the car didn’t “look” like me or something I’d drive and he asked my permission to paint her.  In the four months he had her he did a complete overhaul – including teardown, engine replacement, undercoating, sealer and in the process he “pimped my ride.”  She started off with the 305 TBI, everything was stock under the hood – now look at her features:  350 Target Motor 30/350, Edelbrock 600 CFM Electric Choke, Compression Ratio 8.5:1, Holly Street Dominator Carboratuer, 308 Rear End (stock), 700R4 Transmission (stock), Dynamax Headers, Flowmaster Exhaust, Alpine Head Unit, Pioneer Speakers, Grant Racing Steering Wheel, Edelbrock Valve Covers, Chrome Holly Air Filter, Aurora 245 45 17 Tires, 17 x 9 Ion 38 Chrome Wheels, Custom Paint and Body Work including hood scoop, front and rear lamp covers, fog lights, altered fascia and grill and side chrome mouldings.
